Meanwhile, SR5, TRD Sport, and TRD Sport Premium trims are gas-only versions, while Platinum, Trailhunter, and TRD Pro models only come as hybrids. The SR5 is a strong entry-level SUV, featuring an 8-inch touchscreen, Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, and a Blind Spot Monitor. It’s also one of two models that has an available third row.
These trims step up your capability, with the TRD Sport catering to on-road performance and the TRD Off-Road providing trail-conquering hardware. For instance, the former has a sport-tuned suspension, while the latter adds Bilstein® monotube shocks.
Carrying over their on- and off-road performance enhancements, respectively, the TRD Sport Premium and TRD Off-Road Premium upgrade your interior with a 14-inch touchscreen, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, and SofTex heated and ventilated front seats.

Meanwhile, the Trailhunter and TRD Pro are engineered for serious off-road prowess. The former features Old Man Emu forged shocks and frame-mounted steel rock rails, while the latter has FOX® shocks and LED fog lights. Both include a stabilizer disconnect mechanism and a high-clearance front bumper.
Take your pick of two 4Runner engines. The first is the gas-only i-FORCE 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, which delivers 278 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. Alternatively, the i-FORCE MAX uses the same engine with mild-hybrid support to pump out 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. Not only is the i-FORCE MAX more powerful, but it’s also more efficient, earning up to an EPA-estimated 23/24/23 MPG (City/Highway/Combined).1
Both engines are paired with an eight-speed Electronically Controlled automatic Transmission with intelligence (ECT-i) and can tow up to 6,000 pounds,2 depending on trim, configuration, and equipment.
